This weekend is Valentine’s Day!! Love is in the air…and for some of us, this Valentine’s falls right in the middle of a weight-loss goal, contest prep season, or a fast. So, I thought of a few things that can be done for Valentine’s Day, that won’t break you away from your fitness goals.
Often times, if we are dieting regularly, and decide that if we reach a goal, we should then treat ourselves (“reward ourselves”) with a CHEAT MEAL. This is good for some, as some of us need a little balance to break up the monotony while maintaining one's sanity. I, however, have another option to try.
Healthy living should be a reward in itself! You wouldn’t want to necessarily throw it all away in a meal that is upwards of 1,000 calories at a restaurant. So, let’s say you are doing great with your fitness goals and at the end of 2 weeks, you’re down 3 lbs and 1% body fat…What is your reward? What is your prize? How will you remain motivated? …GO SHOPPING! Try treating yourselves to a new outfit, not necessarily workout-related, but everyone loves new shoes…or even some new sexy lingerie! The same goes with Valentine’s Day, try a night-in and cook a lean dinner, maybe splurge on some wine. Choose your cheats!
Here are other ideas to enjoy with your significant other:
- Cook dinner for your man/woman
- Buy him/her some new threads!
- Go on a group date to a theme park/concert
- Go to the beach
- Have a nice, scenic picnic outdoors
- Enjoy a couples’ massage, or offer your own services:)
- Go Go-Kart Racing!
- Workout together
- Make a photo album from when you started dating to present!
- And Teddy bears/roses are always an oldie, but goodie!
Of course these are just some ideas from the top of my head, the more options, the better. After all, you plan on spending years with someone, you want each experience to be a bit different…and BETTER! Talk with you soon!
